European labour markets and the cultural-economic geography of flexwork
The article looks at the European labour markets and the cultural-economic geography of flexwork. It states that when it comes to the use and popularity of flexible working arrangements in Europe, it can be ascertained that there are significant differences between countries and regions. It notes that in the new European Union member states, there are few legal obstacles to the establishment of temporary agencies. As revealed by research on the temporary staffing industry in the Czech Republic and Poland, this means that entrepreneurs have to operate in a legal vacuum, effectively copying regulatory best practices and organisation models as developed in the Netherlands and Great Britain, among others.
